Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi met his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on the sideline of the 77th United Nations General Assembly summit in NY on September 20.
Raisi touched upon bilateral ties and controversies arising out of nuclear talks during the meetings.
Raisi marked the Tehran-Paris ties and said, "The ties between Iran and France could promote. Yet it's on Europe to show its independence from the US in the field of foreign policies."
Raisi touched upon the JCPOA, saying that US is the side that withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal unilaterally. Hence it is logical and reasonable for Iran to demand guarantees for reviving the deal.
Raisi also stated that without closing the issues regarding the safeguards, reviving the deal is impossible.
Macron on his part said that Iran and the IAEA can solve disputes via bilateral cooperation and that the other sides of the JCPOA would not put political pressure on the IAEA in this regard.
