On the 19th of March 2011, Libya was invaded by a multi-state NATO-led coalition in response to a looming civil war within the country.
What followed was a series of bombings and missile launches. American and British naval forces fired over 110 Tomahawk cruise missiles and at least 7000 bombings were carried out within the eight months that followed.
Their justification was simple. The democratic values and human rights that had been violated by Muammar Gaddafi needed to be protected.
By late October, the country’s leader, Muammar Gaddafi is killed and this will also mean an end to the civil war. And that was it. It was that simple.
Libya was hurting, Gadaffi was the villain, and the West was the hero, or at least that's what the West and its allies wanted you to believe. But in May of 2015, a dark truth was revealed.
