This uniquely designed steel shipping container home in a corner of the world is located in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA and was designed by Travis Price Architects. This double-storey house is built using two types of steel containers, comprising 20 feet and 40 feet modules. The containers are stacked and protected with shutters fabricated from container steel which are set 20 feet apart. The space between the containers serves as the home’s double-height living space and is built with conventional materials and techniques providing a powerful exterior design feature. The double height not only frames the views but also helps to control light entering the interior. Because of the sloping site, the house is suspended above the sloping site and sits on a steel piers above the ground to elevate the house and level it with the access of the main entrance. This beautiful house has a total of two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, a kitchen and a terrace.
