We explore John Adams and his presidency from 1797 to 1801. John Adams is known for such key events as the XYZ affair, the Quasi-War with France, the Alien & Sedition Acts, and the Midnight Judges scandal. He had big shoes to follow after George Washington and couldn’t catch a break. His own party, the Federalists, accused Adams of being too soft on France, while Jefferson and the Republicans refused to let up on him.
