The 2025 Ford E-Transit Custom is out to redefine what a mid-size van is. As it name suggests, it's a new fully electric version of the second-generation Transit Custom, which is also on its way to Australia in a more traditional diesel form.
Either way, the E-Transit Custom is getting in earlier, with zero-emissions load haulers still in their infancy locally. That said, one other newcomer, the LDV eDeliver 7, is ready to duke it out. Good thing, then, that the Ford is coming armed with a 160kW/415Nm rear-mounted electric motor and a 74kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed driving range of 380km.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Byron Mathioudakis travels to Germany to get an early taste of the E-Transit Custom before it arrives in Australian showrooms by the end of this year. So, will it be worth the wait? The answer is very likely to surprise you...
