After this introduction image, this video presents Black Canary, Power Girl and Zatanna on a chronological series of 2024 comic book covers; all published by DC Comics.
In the near future, do you want one of these female superheroes (superheroines) to get a live action movie made about them, or do you want two or three of them in the same movie battling a common enemy?
Do you want one or more co-stars, such as Batgirl, Batman, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Starfire, Supergirl, Superman or Wonder Woman?
Do you have any actor choices, and if so, as which character or characters?
Do you have any movie plot ideas?
The current version of Black Canary, real name Dinah Laurel Lance, first appeared in 1983 in Justice League of America No. 219 and was created by Dennis O’Neil and Dick Dillin.
The Black Canary is the name of two female superheroes appearing in DC Comics: Dinah Drake and her daughter Dinah Laurel Lance.
The original version was created by the writer-artist team of Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino, and the character debuted in Flash Comics No. 86 in 1947.
Black Canary has appeared with Justice Society of America and Justice League of America.
Since the late 1960s, the character has been paired with archer superhero the Green Arrow, both professionally and romantically.
As well as featuring in many Green Arrow stories, she is closely associated with the Batman family of characters, and specifically Barbara Gordon, her best friend, and both have served in leadership roles for the superhero team Birds of Prey.
The Black Canary has been adapted into various media.
In the Birds of Prey television series she was played by Rachel Skarsten and Lori Loughlin, and in Smallville she was played by Alaina Huffman.
In Arrow and other Arrowverse shows the characters Dinah Laurel Lance, Sara Lance and Dinah Drake are portrayed by Katie Cassidy, Caity Lotz and Juliana Harkavy.
Dinah Lance made her cinematic debut in the 2020 DC Extended Universe Birds of Prey film, portrayed by Jurnee Smollett.
Power Girl made her first appearance in, and on the cover of, All Star Comics No. 58, cover dated February 1976, and was created by writer Gerry Conway, artist Ric Estrada, and artist Wally Wood.
Power Girl is Superman’s cousin, but from an alternative universe called Earth-Two, and has all of the classic powers of Kryptonians on Earth.
Power Girl is also known as Kara Zor-L and Karen Starr and Paige Stetler.
Power Girl’s story has changed over time, what follows is one version.
Power Girl is the cousin of Superman, but from an alternative universe called Earth-Two, which was first envisioned as the home of DC's wartime heroes as published in 1940s comic books.
However, Power Girl becomes stranded in the main universe where DC stories are set, and becomes acquainted with that world's Superman and her own counterpart, Supergirl.
Power Girl, like Supergirl, is the daughter of Superman’s aunt and uncle and a Kryptonian like Superman.
Like Superman’s parents, Power Girl’s parents placed her in a rocket to escape the destruction of Krypton.
Unlike Superman, Power Girl’s rocket took much longer to reach Earth-Two, resulting in her appearing grown up when she arrives.
Power Girl has all of the classic powers of Kryptonians on Earth: super strength; flight; super speed; invulnerability; x-ray, telescopic, microscopic and heat vision; freeze breath; and super-hearing.
Zatanna, last name Zatara, first appeared in, but not on the cover of, Hawkman No. 4 in 1964, and was created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Murphy Anderson.
Zatanna is a stage magician with actual magic powers, much like her father; giving her magical powers that can be controlled by invoking commands by speaking incantations backwards.
In that first issue that she appeared in, both Hawkman and Hawkgirl each find a paralyzed girl in a magician’s costume speaking gibberish.
When they bring the twins together they merge into one person, Zatanna.
Zatanna thanks them for their help and tells them of her quest to find her father.
Zatanna’s father Giovanni “John” Zatara, made his first appearance in comic books long before that, in Action Comics No. 1, in 1938, which also happens to be the very first comic book to feature Superman.
Zatanna is known for her involvement with the Justice League and Justice League Dark, having served as a leadership figure for both teams; plus she has appeared outside of these teams with various other superheroes.
In 2024 Zatanna gets a new series, titled Zatanna: Bring Down The House.
Zatanna made a live action appearance as a recurring character in the final three seasons of Smallville, portrayed by actress Serinda Swan.
