“What does a registered nurse do?” can be a can of worms. The simple answer is that nurses do a lot – and it changes depending on where they work or what they specialize in. Nurses work in hospitals and medical clinics, among many other types of facilities. Despite the multitude of specializations to pursue, the role of a registered nurse remains the same: they work on the frontlines as the eyes and ears of healthcare. This hands-on career includes daily duties such as administering medicine, monitoring the condition of patients and coordinating their care under the direction of a physician. Nurses also educate patients and their families on various health conditions and their diagnoses.
