Here at the European Chemicals Agency, we work to protect peoples’ health and the environment from harmful chemicals.

We also help Europe’s chemicals industry innovate and be competitive.

How do we do that? Well, one way is through our scientific committees.

They develop opinions and give advice to the European Commission on the hazards and risks of chemicals and their impact on society.

Our committees provide the scientific basis that the EU relies on when taking decisions on harmful chemicals.

Our Agency has four committees – each with a specific mandate and task.

We are now looking for a new Chair for our Risk Assessment Committee.

The committee prepares scientific opinions on the health and environmental risks of chemicals.

It has a direct impact on the health of millions of people and in safeguarding our environment.

The committee is made up of independent scientists from all over the European Union and it has observers from different EU organisations
