At the end of the South coast region there is Hofn. A small town in the breach where the sandy beaches of the south meet the old mountains of the East fjords.
By the fjord, named Hornafjordur, a shallow and broad waterway with animal life such as seals and rich bird-life and in the waters Salmon and Flounder along with some other fish to catch.
Many choose never to drive there while visiting Iceland as it is quite a distance from Reykjavik but in my view a place reluctantly to be missed for it´s beauty and exceptional scenery.
