Finland was one of the few nations north of Germany that was not subdued by the Nazis. On the other hand, and despite the harshness of the confrontations, it was not dominated by the Soviet Union either. It is amazing that such a small country, with less than 4 million inhabitants and scarce resources, managed to successfully resist against the Third Reich and the communist forces.
