Yep, King Kobbler has been making his rounds. This time he performs science experiments on a 60's National NC-300 receiver. I took the radio in on trade. There was a ebay sticker on top, so I knew it wouldn't be pretty. Full of terrible mods as expected. I contemplated, should I spend the time getting it going. Well, I dove in and had it playing in short time. Unfortunately I could not justify removing the face to install the proper ANL & Tone pots. Lots of time required. So, those functions are abandoned. The receiver performs well, sounds great, alignment appears fine. It would be fine in a classic AM Ham station. Prices on boat anchors are falling due to the new era of Ham gear. I like running the old gear, but I am also a dinosaur. Happy Fathers day!
