Playwright Lauren Gunderson presents Writing Killer Short Plays with Steve Yockey livestreaming on the global, commons-based, peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Wednesday 6 May 2020 at 1 p.m. PDT (San Francisco, UTC-7) / 3 p.m. CDT (Chicago, UTC-5) / 4 p.m. EDT (New York, UTC-4) / 21:00 BST (London, UTC+1) / 22:00 CEST (Berlin, UTC+2).
From Lauren:
Steve Yockey is a master at the short play, as well as being a wildly creative and surprising playwright for all stages. Steve is going to talk us through how he thinks about writing, writing in the short form, and writing with his particular brand of eerie love and bloody comedy.
We'll talk about the particular structures and needs of short plays, the ways they are different from other forms, and some practical tips and advice on how to write them. We'll also talk about how to put together a successful evening of short plays that are distinct but also of a piece, which Steve is really really good at.
He is also basically my big brother so I'm sure we'll have lots of fun and I will make him very uncomfortable with how much I compliment him.
