Via Pitchfork: "The Ballad of Little Jane" is a pastoral baroque pop jaunt, and the sad story it tells is just as sweet as the track's lilting introduction. "Little Jane sits in the shadows, waiting, looking out the window for her love," sings Netherlands artist Jacco Gardner. Like Nilsson and Davies before him, Gardner uses harpsichord, flutes, and organ to invoke a "simpler times" bygone era. But his delivery isn't purely quaint old world pop-- there's a digital sheen to his instruments, and beneath the song's vintage sweetness, there's a markedly more modern beat. The track is pulled from his appropriately titled debut LP Cabinet of Curiosities, which is out February 12 via Trouble In Mind.
