Republicans gathered for the party's national convention in Milwaukee will shift their focus to crime and immigration as speeches are underway on Tuesday after opening up the four-day event formally nominating former President Donald Trump as its presidential nominee and the announcement of Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his running mate.
The first day was mostly celebratory of the party's ticket for president and Trump made an appearance, firing up the crowd by walking into the arena with his fist held up and a bandage over his right ear that was injured in a failed assassination attempt at his rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
