This is the Santa Clara River after the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning on March 20, 2011 for parts of Ventura County, CA. for this rainstorm. The water in this rivers is usually very low. As you can see the water is very high from from its normal flow.
entura County Sheriff's Department and Ventura County Fire Department have been involved in a swift-water rescue in this river before. On this day they ended up rescuing a group of friends in a creek bed off Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks.
The National Weather Service reported rain totals for this rainstorm had reached 4.79 inches in Camarillo, 3.09 inches in Ventura, 3.88 inches at Lake Casitas, 5.23 inches in Ojai, 4.45 inches in Fillmore, 4.41 inches in Thousand Oaks and 2.64 inches in Simi Valley.
