ঢাকা-কাঠমান্ডু বাস II dhaka-Kathmandu (NEPAL) Trial Bus BRTC Shymoli
"It's a trial run. Representatives from three countries will start the journey by road on two buses from Dhaka on April 23. They will reach Kathmandu on April 26. On April 27, they will have a meeting on the road services," Farid Ahmed Bhuiyan, Chairman of BRTC, told bdnews24.com on Sunday.
Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Bhutan have signed an agreement to establish road connectivity.
The buses will cross Banglabandha border via Panchagarh to reach Siliguri in India. From there they would go to Katmandu via Kakarvita.
A thousand kilometre journey would take two days in the trial run, but regular passenger service would take around 30 hours, the BRTC chief said.
Two Shamyoli Paribahan buses have been booked for the maiden journey, he added.
"After the trial run, we would be able to decide whether the route is feasible or not; we would then decide which are the other companies that would be allowed to operate on the route," Farid Bhuiyan added.
"On March 27, we had a meeting in Kolkata. Officials from India and Nepal were present. An ADB representative from Manila joined by video conferencing. The Kathmandu trip date was finalised at that meeting.”
