Nigeria is still a member of the British Commonwealth although it is a self-governing nation. Nigeria has trading links in many countries in Africa and the wider world and provides 3% of the world’s total crude oil. It also exports cotton, coal and other raw materials. Nigeria is a big importer of technology for example smart phones from China and is now the 9th highest country in the world for smart phone ownership. Nigeria also contributes to NATO and is the 5th biggest contributor in the world.
