Thursday is my day off. From 7 to 6 we babysit our two grandchildren aged 6 months and one and a half. And we take care of the two mothers who work here at home. Working and yet close by. Croquettes on bread for lunch. in the evening we are dead tired. I am looking for some relaxation in my music.
A guy from the UK, on a bagpipe forum, I offered to compose a second voice to an existing melody. In my hubris. Because I just started composing, and when it turned out that he didn't play scottish smallpipes, but northumbrian smallpipes, with a different tonal range, I got warm. This man from Haarlem would fix that. Yes Yes.....
After some study I found out that I was lucky. Six months ago I had a chanter, music pipe, printed, in 3D, also with a larger tonal range, and it turned out that it corresponded nicely with the Northumbrian smallpipes. After a few hours of improvising I was quite satisfied. First you hear the unison version of the melody, the original, 250 years old. With the drones tuned in ADA, which already sounds harmoniously actually. Then the second voice comes in. A Man's a Man For a'That.
The guy from UK said, "Nice. That'll do".
