I thought I was about to make contact with the ISS but they were just doing a scheduled contact with Europe and got on seven minutes early, so I could still hear them at the very end of my pass in the US. When I first read about this scheduled contact with Europe, I basically ignored it because I knew I wouldn't be able to hear the ISS communicate with Europe, but because they got on early, I heard the very beginning of the ISS calling them. I wouldn't have even been able to make contact if I wanted to though because they use different, unpublished uplink frequencies for scheduled contacts than they do for random contacts with ham radio operators at large. They do that to avoid interference, intentional or otherwise.
