The Brora distillery is located in the town of the same name in the Scottish Northern Highlands. It closed in 1983 but resumed production 38 years later after a major refurbishment by owner Diageo.
Since the distillery closed in 1983, there is not much Brora whiskey left on the market. The most commonly available bottles these days are vintage bottlings from the 70's and 80's, aged between 15 and 35 years. The distillery character is a slightly smoky Highland malt. There are still some independent bottlings from the distillery.
Unfortunately, a distillery tour at Brora was not possible. Nevertheless, Ben Lüning has a lot of exciting information ready for you on the current production status of the distillery.
