First flight of a downwind SUP foil run.
The first 45 seconds I am waiting patiently to feel the right bump I can pop up on. I'm just maintaining my balance, direction and conserving my energy.
I took a few looks over my shoulder to see what was coming but its better and easier to catch the bump based on feel.
The first two bumps in the set were big and convex.
I could see them coming, but you can't catch them!
You have to FEEL this pattern while you look forward-
1. Big slow lift from the first bump.
2. Steep fall down the back of the first bump...
3. Sharp, steep trough at the bottom of the second bump.
When you feel the slow up, up, up... then steep fast down, down down... then it's go time before the next bump hits you.
Conditions were 15-20knots SW with a small SW swell coming in with the wind. The wind had only been blowing for 2 hours to create these bumps, I could have been earlier.
For reference I was about 500m out to sea from the headland where this was filmed with a long lens.
