There’s a fierce competition going on for the world’s radio frequency spectrum, which is a finite resource. MITRE researcher John Stine has developed a technical solution that will allow organizations to share spectrum dynamically, thus greatly increasing the effective capacity of spectrum. Stine is working with the IEEE Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks Standards Committee to have his approach, called Model-Based Spectrum Management, adopted as one of its standardization efforts.
