A Blood & Guts match also took place on AEW Dynamite this week which got the attention of all AEW fans. In that match, Chris Jericho teamed up with Angelo Parker, Matt Menard, Jake Hager, Daniel Garcia, and Sammy Guevara to take on the team of Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz.
Blood & Guts takes place in two rings enclosed in a double steel cage. And it did not disappoint the fans at all. The match had some moments that left the audience stunned. And one such moment saw Sammy Guevara falling down from the top of the steel cage.
During the match, Eddie Kingston threw Guevara down from the top of the steel cage and send him crashing through a stack of tables. This moment might give you a flashback of the famous Hell in a Cell moment involving The Undertaker and Mick Foley. Soon after this incident involving Guevara and Kingston, fans also took to social media to give their reactions to this shocking moment.
Apart from this Kingston and Guevara moment, this match had several other interesting moments. In the end, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz emerged as the winners.
As for Sammy Guevara, he recently reunited with Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara teamed up with Minoru Suzuki at AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door PPV to take on Eddie Kingston, Shota Umino, and Wheeler Yuta. On that night, they emerged as the winner. But this time, Jericho and Guevara had to end up on the losing side.
AEW Star Suffers Injury During Blood And Guts Match:
Santana suffered an injury during the “Blood & Guts” main event bout held on the 6/29 “AEW Dynamite.”
The Proud & Powerful star appeared to get hurt after hitting Jericho Appreciation Society’s Daniel Garcia with an Uranage throw, before landing awkwardly on both his wrist and knee, as seen in the video below. His leg buckled immediately following the maneuver, and he remained grounded for the rest of the match. According to fans at the arena, Santana would roll out of the ring, lying between the cage and the ropes, as he communicated with referees at the ringside area.
Santana never returned to the action and wasn’t part of the post-match celebration either. A few minutes before the brutal match concluded, Santana was seen being helped up the ramp and taken to the backstage area for a medical evaluation.
The “Blood & Guts” match would eventually conclude with Claudio Castagnoli tapping out Matt Menard atop the steel cage, barely seconds before Eddie Kingston would do the same to Chris Jericho. AEW teased some tension between Castagnoli and Kingston after the match, with the latter claiming he secured the win for William Regal’s Blackpool Combat Club.
