In today's episode of the van life vlog through Mexico, I find the GREATEST CAMPSITE EVER while living the solo van life on the beach in Mahahual, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
After spending two weeks in Bacalar, Mexico, it's finally time to hit the road for another little road trip through Mexico. This time, I'm only driving an hour and a half north to the small beach town of Mahahual, right on the Caribbean Sea. And when I arrived, I quickly realized this was the greatest campsite I had ever seen throughout my time living in a van!
For just 100 pesos per night ($5 USD) I got to park the truck right on the white sand beaches of Mahahual, with a coral reef literally FEET from my parking spot. Palm trees surrounded the truck, a sea breeze kept everything cool, and the view out the back of the truck was truly breathtaking. Not only that, but I also had access to showers, bathrooms (with a toilet seat!!!!!!!) snorkeling gear, kayaks, a full kitchen, and more included in my purchase. If anybody out there is looking for a place to stay while overlanding in Mahahual, this needs to be your destination!
As a vanlifer, I've become accustomed to splitting time between Walmart parking lots and beautiful, scenic backcountry roads... but nothing could have prepared me for this once-in-a-lifetime van van life adventure. I got to explore the town of Mahahual, try new Mexican dishes, meet locals, and have some fun in the water while parked here for a few days. Hope you all enjoyed being a part of this vlog, I couldn't have done it without you!
