(17 Aug 1977) Despite government threats to close schools down, which were calculated to force students back to their classes, Soweto schools reported their lowest attendances of the week, and a school principal blamed police raids. In an interview, the leader of the Soweto Committee of Ten, Nthato Motlana, accused the Minister of Police, Jimmy Kruger, of running the country.
