How can individuals take on an issue as daunting as climate change? Can communities that want to get involved affect change in the complex world of climate policy? This talk addresses one potential way in which you can actively make a difference on a community level and translate that seamlessly on to a global scale. We discuss the power of money and collective action in changing minds, and how you can at an individual level be empowered to change the landscape of global climate policy. Darya Guettler is a Junior in Mechanical Engineering and Political Science. Her research interests revolve around climate change mitigation and renewable energy technologies. She is a member of the MIT Symphony Orchestra, the MIT Climate Action Team and the MIT Energy Club, and has spent her last summer interning at Tesla Energy. She hopes to work at the intersection of policy and technology for climate change in the future.
