Austria's President Dr. ADOLF SCHAERF opened the annual music, theatre & art Festival. The ballet of the State Opera danced a waltz to the music of Strauss' "Blue Danube" with the illuminated townhall as background, and Austrian painter WOLFGANG ERBENS held an exhibition of his paintings underneath a bridge crossing the Danube Canal. He also sketched many of the visitors.
