Labour have suggested introducing a Magnitsky Act, an oligarch levy and other measures designed to hit the Russian kleptocracy where it hurts. Instead, Theresa May's Conservative government, which has accepted huge donations from Russian oligarchs, has expelled 23 diplomats, triggering a tit-for-tat response from Vladimir Putin but achieving little else.
I went on one of ClampK's Kleptocracy tours of London properties bought with Russian dirty money to find out how Putin and the Russian oligarchs amassed their wealth, the processes they go through to invest it and find out how the government could clamp down more effectively.
