Sky News host Chris Kenny says it is “disingenuous” to blame the Albanese government for the “division” the Coalition has helped create surrounding the Voice to Parliament.

Mr Kenny said the ‘Yes’ campaign was boosted by “emotive pleas” while the ‘No’ campaign tells Australians it is “all too risky and divisive”.

“It wasn’t divisive when the Liberal Party was considering it for all last year and into this year,” he said.

“The Liberal Party, for all that time, was saying it might support it, kept its options alive at least publicly, and Dutton wasn’t calling it divisive then.

"The proposal became divisive the day Dutton decided to outright oppose it.

“It is just disingenuous to blame the government for the division that the Coalition has helped to create.

“Every time you call this thing divisive, you are fuelling the division.”
