In the third category of our annual ski test, we review the best men’s Freeride skis on and off the piste.
Freeride means the freedom to roam wherever you please over the mountain. Performance is skewed towards making the most of your time outside of the piste poles on fresh, ungroomed snow. Generally, these planks are wider to improve float in deep snow, which can hinder them on the piste, but don’t be discouraged - these skis can charge in any conditions!
The three skis that particularly impressed our testing crew were:
Elan Ripstick 96
Head Kore 99
Volkl M5 Mantra
