By the end of Meditation I, Descartes is in a state of universal doubt. He can no longer trust his senses and believes there could be an evil demon deceiving him in every part of his life. However, does this mean he has to doubt his own existence? Or is the fact that he is thinking enough to assure himself that he exists.
