Today we will go to the Area of Furnas. We will first make a stop at Lake Furnas and then continue in the direction of the village.
Furnas Lake is renowned for its tranquil waters and scenic surroundings. We can certainly confirm that surroundings are amazing but the day we went there, the wind was blowing so strongly that we were forced to shorten our visit and move to the village's Caldeiras.
The Caldeiras are a series of geothermal hot springs and fumaroles located in the village. This area is one of the most active geothermal regions on São Miguel Island, offering a fascinating glimpse into the island's volcanic nature. The landscape around the caldeiras is otherworldly, with steam rising from the ground, creating an ethereal atmosphere.
