It is the TNF game of the year tonight…as the Bengals head to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. This is of course the 2nd meeting between these two rivals this season – the Ravens took the first round 27-24 back in Week 2. Joe Burrow was asked earlier this week about that 1st matchup, and what the Bengals can take away from the loss to Baltimore that will help them tonight.
Of course that game was in September when Burrow was far from 100%...and the Bengals did still get things going and make a game of it in the 2nd half. That gives me some optimism about what they can accomplish against this tough Ravens defense…but once again they’re going to be shorthanded. While they caught a break with Trey Hendrickson already working his way back in after suffering that knee injury Sunday – Tee Higgins, Sam Hubbard and Yoshi-vas have already been ruled out for tonight.
And while I think they still have enough offensively to get things done…I am a little worried about this defense with Hubbard missing his 2nd straight game. Without him last week, they allowed the most yards they’ve given up since Week 2 of 2019…and he of course had maybe the most memorable play in the history of this rivalry with the “Fumble in the Jungle.” Of course the struggles last week weren’t all about Hubbard…but obviously you want all hands on deck against Lamar.
The Bengals are going to have to find a way to get it done tonight. As Gronk alluded to yesterday…the Bengals are in trouble if they drop this one given the state of the AFC right now. While I don’t agree with him that they’d be finished if they lose…it would make the path so much harder…while a win could very well vault them right back into a playoff spot.
And don’t forget, if you want to take part in the action over at FanDuel Sportsbook…Gronk and I did put together a little parlay for you.
Gronk likes Tyler Boyd 40+ receiving yards and a Mark Andrews anytime touchdown. I’m rolling with the QBs: Burrow 225+ passing yards, Lamar 25+ rush yards on the ground.
