The 15th of August is the National Liberation Day of Korea.
Korea (both North and South, before division) was liberated from 35 years of Japanese colonial rule in 1945.
In order to commemorate this day, I would like to introduce to you a list of movie titles that have been popular and touching.
By watching these movies, you will be able to understand how hard it was for Korean people to live in their own country without freedom to voice up.
People were not allowed to speak their own language and use their own names.
Their diplomatic right was taken away.
Japan deprived Korea of jurisdiction.
Korean people lost their properties, money, families, and a lot of things.
So many people lost their lives.
Japan told the world that things are okay in the land of Korea without telling what they had done to Korean people.
I hope you get to learn about the historical facts from these movies although some of these movies are based on historical events and fictitious elements.
These are not documentaries so it’s fun to watch them although sometimes you may want to cry or feel frustrated.
