Control. It’s a “huge” word when talking about horses according to Eitan Beth-Halachmy. Eitan explains that “control” means controlling horse’s minds and in turn controlling their feet. If you have control of the horse’s feet you can place them exactly where you want them. This results in movement. Eitan explains more by saying that riders do not ride the horse’s head, they ride the horse’s feet. This video clip demonstrates how essential it is to know where each foot is at all times because it makes it possible for the rider to execute any maneuver on the horse. The video slows clearly how footfall works and explains the need to feel for each footfall as well.
