Looking to further challenge my fitness, I participated in the America Cancer Society’s 36th Annual George Washington Bridge Challenge!!
The race is held every year and takes runners from Fort Lee NJ into NYC across the lower level of the GWB. Runners are given the option to do either the 5K or 10K distance - the 10K features and additional loop across the bridge.
Honestly, the race would have been so much more epic if it was hosted on the upper level of the bridge. Being on the lower level obscured the views and it felt more like being inside of a tunnel than being on a bridge. Nonetheless it was an epic experience and I look forward to running it again next year.
This was my first 10K race ever! Until now I’d been sticking to the 5K distance as I slowly work my way back into running and develop my fitness. But I wanted to challenge myself. And with a race this epic, I felt obligated to do the toughest option and push myself the most!
I finished the race in 1:12:40 which is not fast at all but I’m so proud of myself for getting it done!!
