Christopher Granger, MD, Professor of Medicine, Director Critical Care Unit, Duke University Medical Center discussed that the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) has grown to be one of the best forums to discuss best practices of cardiovascular care. Granger said his group explored the subset of elderly patients who are prone to falling, hoping to explain the importance of this subgroup in the inclusion criteria. Additionally, Granger highlighted the findings that indicated benefits of apixaban over warfarin particularly with significantly lower risk of major bleeding.
