Australia has spearheaded the naming and shaming of a cyber hacking group connected to the Chinese government.

This is the first time Australia has taken the lead on a cyber advisory.

In another first, Japan and South Korea have joined the Five Eyes allies in making this attribution.

The hacking group is known as APT40 and acted on behalf of China’s powerful Minister of State Security.

It is blamed for targeting both the Australian government and businesses.
