Franco Mastantuono was born on August 14, 2007, in Azul, Buenos Aires, Argentina. His early interest in sports included both football and tennis. At the age of 3, he began his football career playing for River de Azul, where his father was the coach. Though he had the chance to trial for River Plate, his family initially prioritized tennis. At 11, he signed with Club Cemento, but in 2019, he accepted the offer from River Plate. He made his youth debut in the last match of the season, and despite the interruption of the 2020 season due to COVID-19, he continued his development. In 2022, he earned a call-up to Argentina’s U-17 team and later impressed Javier Mascherano, who invited him to train with the U-20 team. By August 2023, he had signed his first contract with River Plate, with a two-year deal and a €30 million release clause. In 2024, Mastantuono became River Plate’s youngest-ever goal scorer, surpassing a record held by Javier Saviola. He is a talented left-footed midfielder with exceptional vision, ball control, and goal-scoring ability, making him a highly sought-after prospect for future transfers.
