The Pens come through!
I went down to watch on the lawn. I knew there wouldn't be as many people there because of the weather, but I was still surprised at how many fans decided to show up!
I got down there without really getting wet since I waited for a few waves on the radar to pass. It seemed like everything was going to be great and then right as they drop the puck it starts to rain.
The Sens score right away. STUNNED. The rain came down harder and harder during the first period. Even under my umbrella I was getting soaked. My socks are still wet and I've been working on this video for hours. Things weren't looking good, thoughts such as, "What the hell are you doing watching this in the rain?" cross your mind.
But then Crosby scores! All of a sudden, it wasn't raining so hard, haha! Funny how that happens.
This game was really physical. Both teams throwing hits. I hope Leopold is going to be ok, but that's why the Pens have 7 NHL defensemen. Still had to play the rest of the game with 5 after that hit though.
By the 2nd period it had stopped raining, and the rest of the game was quite enjoyable in terms of weather. The score remained 1-1 at the end of two periods.
Close chances at both ends in the third. A puck almost gets by Elliott after a faceoff from Staal. A puck slides by Fleury but Crosby is there to bat it out of the way (do you think Ovechkin would ever be in that position around his own net?)
Late in the third, Crosby takes over. Dancing behind the net. We've seen these moves before. He circles back and forth, finally runs out of room and gives it back to Letang. Slapshot....SCORE!!!! I managed to get it on footage. What a feeling! What a game!
Series tied going into Ottawa. LET'S GO PENS!
