Start, Taskbar and Action Center option appearing grayed out in the PC Settings app? Follow these steps to make the option available again.
Many users have reported a weird issue after installing a new feature update for Windows 10. While trying to make changes to the Colors settings in Windows 10, the Start, taskbar, and action center options are greyed out under Show accent color on the following surfaces.
Strange things are not always absent even now that Windows seems to be more stable and reliable than ever!
After Windows Features update I had of course to re-activate Desktop Gadgets using the Gadgetarian, and also reconfigure my colors. The second task proved more difficult, since the relevant option (Start, taskbar, and action center) in the “Colors” section of the Windows Settings was grayed out!
Here is how you can solve this problem. Just below the “Colors” section in the large menu column at the left you can see the “Themes” section. Go there, scroll a little and go to “Change theme”. Select and activate any theme you like. Now return to the “Colors” section.
Take care: Do not change there anything other at all except for the accent color (you can choose any color you like) and the “Show accent color on the following surfaces” option, which includes the now available! “Start, taskbar, and action center” option.
If you’re using a light theme on your computer, you’ll find that the Start, taskbar, and action center option in the color settings menu is grayed out. It means you can’t touch and edit it in your settings. The reason why it’s been disabled is because if Windows allowed you to change the accent color of these elements in a light theme, these elements might not be properly visible on your screen.
However, if you must work with the option and you’d like it enabled, there are a few ways to do it. Basically, you can just go into the Settings app and enable an option and it’ll activate the option for you.
Recently, I've seen a strange issue where the "Start, Taskbar and Action Center" option in the PC Settings app, "Personalization, then Colors" page to be more specific, is grayed out. Since I use dynamic wallpapers app with a light theme for the start menu and taskbar, I never thought about it that much. However, when I wanted to make the start menu and taskbar colorful, I can no longer do it. Mainly because the option to do is simply not available. i.e grayed out.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, and Samsung.
