***The trick to making the 0 Water filters last longer is to have one of these big refrigerator jugs, and then have another smaller pitcher that's also 0 Water. Once your jug (main water) shows a reading of 006 or higher, replace the water filter with a new one, and the new water should again read 000 ppm. Next, take the 006 water filter and put it in the pitcher and throw away the pitcher's filter. Thus, when you run water through the small pitcher, it's being filtered at 006. You then take that pitcher's water and dump into main large 0 water jug - so instead of the main jug filtering municipal water at 070ppm, it's now filtering water at 006ppm (from the pitcher). It requires two Zero Water systems, and you'd only fill the main jug with water from the pitcher, so the system is a bit awkward, and I'd prefer to save refrigerator space by not buying a 2nd Zero Water pitcher. I simply buy 2 at a time for a reduced price, and that's it. Once my filter shows 006, I toss it.
Having lived off RO (reverse osmosis) water for about 2 years, not knowing but feeling the effects, which are sort of 'weakening or deflating', I know that remineralization is important. It really makes a difference in the way you feel and the water tastes much better. We've had a few compliments on our water since getting Zero Water and remineralizing the water (about a year now). There are so many types of water filter systems, and I find this to be really easy. My wife has a couple of stainless steel carafes in the fridge for the kids. I think one is boiled Zero Water for disinfecting baby stuff, and the 2nd carafe is just remineralized water ready to go.
