Gabriel "Big Deck Energy" Deck was a recent and somewhat random signing by the Thunder. Usually, April isn't the time to be signing players to multiple years of guaranteed money. You see a lot of "multi-year" deals given to fringe G-Leaguers, but those usually pay players a small amount for the rest of the season and then give them a team option for the next season. Deck's deal is a real multi-year deal that pays him real money, and not only is it real money, it's real AMERICAN money, which is different from the fake Spanish money that Real Madrid was giving him. Even ignoring the money aspect, the NBA gives Deck a chance to compete for a REAL NBA championship, and not a FAKE EuroLeague championship. Only one of those rightfully confers the title of "world champion", and I'm sure the Thunder will be world champions soon enough with their Gilgeous-Alexander/Pokusevski/Dort/Deck/corpse of Al Horford core.
With Facundo Campazzo and now Gabriel Deck seeing a small measure of success in the NBA, it has never been a better time to be an Argentine basketball fan. These guys aren't world-class superstars on the level of, say, Carlos Delfino or Manu Ginobili, but they're doing their best to make sure the casual NBA fan doesn't forget that Argentina is perfectly capable of producing high-quality ballers. This is right around the time of the description where I should be spamming the "Argentina flag" emoji, but I don't know how to make an Argentina flag emoji. My keyboard doesn't have that button. So you'll just have to pretend that this paragraph is littered with little Argentinian flags.
Not gonna lie, I liked what I saw from Big Deck Energy in this game. He played with energy befitting his big Deck. That vaguely Dirkesque stepback was nice as eff. We should be calling him Deck Nowitzki if we aren't already.
