Welcome back to ‘the bible says what’. Today I will summarize Romans chapter 10, where Paul discussed how the word of faith brings salvation. Paul taught and said the Jewish people have a strong zeal for God, but not according to true knowledge. They sought to establish their own righteousness based on the law, but they did not subject themselves to the actual righteousness of God. And the Father revealed that Jesus Christ, His son, is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes in Him.
Paul continued and said righteousness based on faith is humble, and subjects itself to something higher than works of the law. Faith is found in a person’s heart. He said ‘how can they call upon him in whom they have not believed? How will people hear without a preacher? How will people preach unless they are sent? But God did send them. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things. Their voice has gone out into all the earth and their words to the ends of the world.
Then Paul started talking about the Jewish people. He said the prophet Isaiah and Moses prophesied about this people. The prophecies they wrote foretold their unbelief. Isaiah said ‘who has believed our report? And through Isaiah, God spoke to the Jewish people saying ‘I will make you jealous by that which is not a nation. By a nation without understanding I will anger you. I was found by those who did not seek me. I became manifest to those who did not ask for me. But Israel, all the day long I have stretched out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.
The most important verses in this chapter are Romans 10:9 through 13 which state, ‘That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’
The thing I think the Lord wants us to understand after reading this chapter is that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the Law for righteousness for everyone who believes. He wants people to know clearly that a person can be saved by confessing Jesus Christ is Lord, and believing in their heart that the Father raised Jesus from the dead. And God wants people to know that whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Have you ever called out to the Lord to save you? Today is a great day to do that. Repent for your sin and turn to Jesus for salvation. He is offering you new life. Jesus humbled himself and died on a cross, and the Father raised Jesus from the dead. Like this chapter told us, God said if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and if you believe in your heart that the Father raised Jesus from the dead, you would be saved. Why don’t you do that right now?
