The cause for recurrent inclination to pass stools, is caused by different reasons. It can be as benign as stressful conditions or anxiety or it can be even malignancies or cancer the reason being, the anal canal and rectum is a single unit. The anal canal is the last unit, where sphincters will be keeping it closed. Rectum is the portion where motion gets collected. When it is full, then anal canal should open, then the motion come s out, that is normal mechanism, if the capacity of the rectum has become less due to some swellings, tumors or something pressing from outside, then the capacity has become less, then the urge to pass motion becomes more frequent. Or inner intestinal membrane which lines the whole rectum, that if it is inflamed, or infected there will be irritation, so again the person feels like passing motion again and again. So there will be inflammation in the anal canal or the capacity of the anal canal has come down like a cancerous growth or some other tumor, which is occupying this space. So that will cause the feeling of passing stools again and again the other possibility is, what is called as IBS irritable bowel syndrome, where psychologically we will be more stressed and intestines will be acting faster than usual. So we will feel like passing motion number of times and we will be having a sensation that there is something inside the anal canal or rectum.
