I was thrown into having to learn how to grow Alocasias from corms. Back in March, I received a Zebrina that was on its way out due to root rot. I was lucky enough to be able to save some corms from the Zebrina. After propagating to those bulbs in some sphagnum moss, I finally have some leaves starting to unfurl.
Since I’ve had some pretty successful corm growth experiments, I decided to share what I’ve been doing and how to grow and expand your Alocasia collection with corm propagation.
After repotting my semi-dormant Micholitziana a few weeks ago, I spotted a bunch of new corms forming underneath the soil. So, let’s harvest those corms and make new plants!
I’ll go over a step-by-step guide on the best way to grow alocasias from corms, how to harvest corms and how to plant them in sphagnum moss to create healthy & happy roots - which will eventually be a brand-new plant.
Stick around at the end of this video if you would like to hear some updates on how my health has been going.
