Grain to glass video for a British Golden Ale. I will be submitting this beer in upcoming competitions to see if it scores better as a standard Blonde Ale or British Golden Ale. Stay tuned for results!
RECIPE:
Grains:
- 47.6% 2-Row Pale Malt
- 48.9% Vienna Malt
- 3.5% Honey Malt
Hops:
- .63 Oz Cascade (6.10% AA) First Wort Hops
- 1.18 Oz Saaz (2.80% AA) 30 Min Boil
- .63 Oz Cascade (6.10% AA) 10 Min Boil
- .63 Oz Cascade (6.10% AA) 0 Min Boil (Add hops when wort gets down to 180F)
Yeast:
- Wyeast 1098 (British Ale Yeast) - 1L Starter
Water Profile:
Ca=50, Mg=10, Na=16, Cl=70, SO4=70
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Mash at 146F for 60 min.
2. Add first wort hops.
3. Boil for 60 min with hop, whirlfloc additions (add yeast nutrients if desired)
4. Add last hop addition at 180F as wort continues to cool.
5. Chill wort down to 65F and pitch yeast.
6. Ferment at 65F for 7 days, free rise to 68F for another 7 days and then cold crash, keg and carbonated at 2.4-2.5 vol of co2.
