Both SMILE and LASIK use the femtosecond laser to begin the process, but unlike LASIK, where the excimer laser is used to complete the process/procedure, the SMILE laser eye surgery is completed under the femtosecond laser, so there's no flap created in SMILE. However, the visual recovery for both is very similar.
SMILE is a great option for the right candidate, and we'll be happy to discuss whether you're a candidate for SMILE or LASIK at your free consultation exam at Excel Laser Vision Institute, so please look us up, and we'll be happy to guide you further.
