Etna is The largest active volcano in Europe. The Eruption of 2017 of the volcano in the island of Sicily, was accessible from the south flank of mount etna, from the city of Catania. This eruption occurred in April; Mount Etna began his activity with strombolian explosions from the south est crater, one of the four active craters at the summit of this Italian stratovolcano. After a year relatively quite for the highest active volcano of Europe, in February of 2017, a series of mild earthquakes followed by explosions and spewing of volcanic ash announced that this mighty giant was about to produce one of the largest eruptions in recent years. The night sky was lightened by the fire show produced by lava fountains and loud explosions. The climax of the explosive activity was reached at the beginning of March with a paroxysm producing some loud bangs and sustained explosions. During the explosive part of any given eruption as a safety measure, people should not be in the proximity of the eruptive crater or fissure. Lava bomb can be expelled violently travelling several hundred meters up before crushing to the soil. Just keep in mind that Mount Etna eruptions are not very explosive. The chemistry of the magma with a medium quantity of silica, allows gases to come out of solution quickly, stopping this volcano from developing pyroclastic flows. By the beginning of March 2017 etna volcano stopped the explosive activity and a red lava stream began to move on the flank of the volcano Our agency Sicily Active offered the chance to trekkers to reach the effusive mouth and enjoy the thrilling experience of walking along a lava stream.
