As the name of their store suggests, Jae Wheeler and Hugh Fountain built Music Lovers on a foundation of their mutual love of music. Jae’s family wanted him to study engineering in college, but he secretly wished he could major in music. Hugh discovered a passion for jazz while still in High School, where a thoughtful and talented teacher mentored him. In the late 1980s, the two young men met at a record store where Hugh was working. It quickly became apparent to Jae that Hugh was remarkably knowledgeable and insightful on the topics of music and the sound of audio equipment. They began discussing the possibility of working together. In 1989, Jae and Hugh established their first audio shop in Berkeley, California. Since then, their passion for music, dedication to service, and their knowledge of the industry have served to make them the premier high-end audio retailer in the Bay Area, with stores in San Francisco and Berkeley. This video celebrates the addition of the Chronosonic XVX to the Berkeley location.
